[October 20, 2025] RI Korea, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), announced the successful completion of the "Healthcare Service Utilization Survey" conducted among 300 residents in the Ang Snuol District of Kandal Province, Cambodia.

The survey was conducted as part of the second phase of the "Disability-Inclusive Health Promotion Project (2025-2026)" to analyze the health environment in Borey Kamkor and Prey Tunloab villages. The primary objective was to identify healthcare utilization patterns among vulnerable groups—including persons with disabilities, the elderly, and low-income households—to establish a foundation for tailored health policies.

Key findings revealed that residents face various disabilities, with physical (42%) and visual (18%) disabilities being the most prevalent. Furthermore, high rates of chronic illnesses such as gastrointestinal disorders (115 cases) and hypertension (104 cases) were reported. Notably, a significant number of residents prefer self-medication through private pharmacies over public health centers due to accessibility, highlighting risks of drug misuse and the urgent need for professional medical consultations.

Based on the data collected, RI Korea and KOICA plan to implement strategic initiatives, including supporting disability registration to integrate residents into official welfare systems, enhancing the capacity of local medical staff, and expanding community-based rehabilitation (CBR) services.

An official from RI Korea stated, "Through close cooperation with the Cambodian government and local authorities, we will continue to develop a sustainable healthcare model where everyone, regardless of disability, can enjoy equitable access to health services".
