[KANDAL, CAMBODIA] – RI Korea, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), successfully conducted a "Continuing Medical Education (CME)" program for public health professionals in the Ang Snuol District from November 28 to 29, 2025. This initiative is a critical step in the "Disability-Inclusive Health Promotion Project," aimed at enhancing the clinical expertise of local medical staff.

Strengthening Public Healthcare Capacity The two-day intensive training, held at the Ang Snuol Referral Hospital, was attended by 27 public medical professionals, including 24 staff members from the Ang Snuol Referral Hospital and 3 from the Peuk Health Center. The program was specifically designed to bridge the gap in specialized care for patients with chronic diseases and physical disabilities.

Comprehensive Curriculum Focused on Rehabilitation Led by a team of Korean medical specialists—including rehabilitation and internal medicine physicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists—the training covered a wide array of essential topics:

• Disability Awareness & Communication: Improving bedside manner and clinical understanding of persons with disabilities.

• Chronic Disease Management: Advanced protocols for treating hypertension and diabetes, including emergency response strategies.

• Practical Rehabilitation Sessions: Hands-on training in exercise and occupational therapy using newly installed medical equipment in the hospital’s Physical Therapy Unit.

High Satisfaction and Educational Excellence The program achieved outstanding results, with all 27 participants completing the training, far exceeding the initial target of 12 graduates. A comprehensive satisfaction survey reflected the success of the program, with the "Exercise Therapy Practice" and "Occupational Therapy Practice" sessions receiving the highest ratings (3.81 and 3.78 out of 4.0, respectively). Participants praised the clarity of the lectures and the immediate applicability of the practical skills learned.

A Sustainable Healthcare Future for Ang Snuol "Enhancing the capacity of local medical professionals is the most sustainable way to improve health equity," said a project representative from RI Korea. "By equipping these doctors and therapists with advanced rehabilitation skills, we are ensuring that persons with disabilities in Ang Snuol receive high-quality, professional care within their own community."

Moving forward, the trained medical staff will play a pivotal role in the hospital's Physical Therapy Unit and support the 'Health Keeper' community network to provide integrated care for those in need.
