[KANDAL, CAMBODIA] – RI Korea, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), successfully hosted the "2025 Health Keeper Activity Case Sharing Event" on November 29, 2025, in Borey Kamkor Village, Ang Snuol District. This forum was dedicated to recognizing and disseminating the best practices of local health volunteers, known as 'Health Keepers,' who serve as the backbone of the community's health monitoring network.

Celebrating Grassroots Excellence The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Disability Action Council (DAC), the Kandal Provincial Health Department (KPHD), and medical staff from Ang Snuol Referral Hospital. The highlight of the day featured four exemplary Health Keepers—Mr. Chhoum Bunthorn, Mr. Chan Cheyrith, Mrs. Sor San, and Mr. Kan Sophea—who presented their field experiences in supporting health-vulnerable residents.

Key Achievements and Best Practices The presentations showcased the profound impact of personalized home-visit monitoring, including:

• Effective Health Intervention: Successful cases of early detection and referral for residents with chronic illnesses and disabilities.

• Building Trusting Relationships: Strategies for engaging with marginalized families and overcoming cultural barriers to medical care.

• Systematic Monitoring: Utilization of structured monitoring forms to track the recovery and health status of 300 vulnerable households.

Strengthening the Referral System Beyond sharing stories, the event served as a strategic platform to bridge the gap between village-level activities and institutional medical care. By involving both Health Keepers and professional medical staff, the program reinforced the referral system that ensures community members identified during home visits receive professional treatment at the Ang Snuol Referral Hospital.

A Model for Sustainable Health Equity "The passion and dedication shown by our Health Keepers are what make this project sustainable," said Cho Sung-min, Secretary General of RI Korea. "By sharing these success stories, we are not just celebrating individual efforts but are creating a proven roadmap for community-based rehabilitation that can be replicated across other regions in Cambodia."

The event concluded with an awards ceremony to honor the presenters for their outstanding contributions to promoting health equity and enhancing the quality of life for persons with disabilities in the Ang Snuol District.
