Distribute Visual Health Guide to Combat Chronic Diseases in Ang Snuol, Cambodia

[KANDAL, CAMBODIA] – As part of the "Disability-Inclusive Health Promotion Project," RI Korea, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has developed a specialized health booklet titled "Prevention and Management of Chronic Diseases." This initiative aims to empower 300 health-vulnerable residents in the Ang Snuol District with practical knowledge to manage their long-term health conditions.

A Visual Guide for Better Health Recognizing the diverse literacy levels within the community, the 14-page booklet is designed with a focus on visual illustrations. It provides easy-to-understand information on the prevention and management of major chronic conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, respiratory illnesses, and hypertension.

Comprehensive Content for Daily Care The booklet serves as a comprehensive manual for healthy living, covering ten essential topics:

  1. Understanding Chronic Diseases: Introduction to long-term health management.

  2. Disease-Specific Guides: Tailored advice for managing hypertension, diabetes, and respiratory health.

  3. Lifestyle Improvements: Practical tips on nutrition, low-sodium diets, and regular physical activity.

  4. Mental Health & Early Detection: Strategies for stress management and the vital importance of regular health screenings.

  5. Community Resources: Guidance on utilizing local health centers, hospitals, and NGO support programs.

Personalized Distribution via 'Health Keepers' Starting in December 2025, 300 copies of the booklet will be personally delivered to the homes of pre-selected vulnerable residents. The distribution will be carried out by 'Health Keepers'—community health volunteers trained by RI Korea—who will also provide brief educational sessions to ensure residents can effectively follow the advice in the booklet.

Commitment to Health Equity "Chronic diseases require consistent, daily management, which can be challenging without the right information," said a representative from RI Korea. "By providing this visually-oriented guide through our Health Keeper network, we are ensuring that even the most isolated residents have the tools they need to lead healthier, more informed lives."

The project, which began its planning and design phase in October 2024, is part of a broader strategy to bridge the healthcare gap in Cambodia by fostering community-led health monitoring and education.
