[KANDAL, CAMBODIA] – RI Korea, in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has successfully completed the 2025 Home Environment Improvement Project in the Ang Snuol District. This initiative, part of the "Disability-Inclusive Health Promotion Project," provided essential home renovations to 16 health-vulnerable households in Borey Kamkor and Prey Tunloab villages.

Breaking Barriers at Home The project focused on "Disability Inclusion" by removing physical barriers and improving sanitary conditions for those most in need. With a total investment of $8,750, the renovations were tailored to each household’s specific needs, including:

• Accessibility Enhancements: Removing door thresholds and installing ramps to ensure independent mobility for persons with disabilities.

• Sanitation Upgrades: Installing accessible toilets and repairing roofs to prevent flooding and waterborne diseases during the rainy season.

• Safety Improvements: Repairing flooring and structural elements to provide a secure living environment for the elderly and those with chronic illnesses.

Community-Driven Support The selection process was led by local 'Health Keepers,' who conducted preliminary surveys to identify the most critical cases. This grassroots approach ensured that the support reached the most marginalized families, providing not just physical repairs but also psychological stability and a foundation for social participation.

A Step Toward Health Equity "Improving the home environment is a form of preventive healthcare," said a representative from RI Korea. "By creating a barrier-free and hygienic living space, we are reducing the medical and financial burden on vulnerable families and ensuring that no one is left behind in their own community."

Future Commitment Following the successful completion of these 16 households, RI Korea and KOICA will continue to monitor the impact on residents' health and expand the home improvement program as part of their three-year strategic plan (2024–2026) to support 300 vulnerable households in the region.
