Kandal, Cambodia – On April 25 and May 2, 2026, a series of comprehensive health screening events were held at the Village Community Hall for the residents of Borey Kamkor and Prey Tunlorb villages in Ang Snuol District, Kandal Province.

This initiative is part of the "Phase 2 Project for Disability-Inclusive Health Promotion in Ang Snuol District, Kandal Province, Cambodia," supported by KOICA. The event saw the active participation of approximately 40 medical professionals from Ang Snuol Referral Hospital and Beak Chan Health Center, alongside "Health Keepers" (village health volunteers) who play a vital role in local health monitoring.

A total of 280 vulnerable residents benefited from the program, undergoing basic physical exams and blood tests. For individuals showing specific symptoms, advanced diagnostic services such as ultrasounds and X-rays were provided to ensure accurate diagnosis and facilitate necessary follow-up treatments.

Notably, the monitoring team from RI Korea (Rehabilitation International Korea) Headquarters visited the site to oversee the operations. The team conducted in-depth interviews with participants to evaluate the effectiveness of the project and to measure its impact on the community’s overall well-being.

"This event marks the first round of health screenings for 2026," a project official stated. "We plan to conduct a second round in the latter half of the year to track and monitor the progress of the residents' health improvements, ensuring sustainable and inclusive healthcare for all."

한국장애인재활협회(RI Korea)는 지난 4월 25일과 5월 2일 양일간, 캄보디아 껀달주 앙스누울구(Ang Snuol) 내 Borey Kamkor 및 Prey Tunlorb 마을 주민들을 대상으로 기초 건강검진 행사를 성공적으로 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 ‘캄보디아 껀달주 앙스누울구 장애포괄적 건강증진사업(2단계)’의 일환으로 마련되었으며, 마을 커뮤니티 홀에서 진행되었다. 현장에는 Ang Snuol 후송병원 및 Beak Chan 보건소 소속 의료진 40여 명과 마을 건강 모니터링을 담당하는 ‘헬스키퍼(Village Health Keepers)’들이 대거 참여하여 전문적인 검진 서비스를 제공했다.

이틀간 진행된 검진에는 약 280명의 건강취약계층 주민이 방문하여 혈압, 혈당 등 기초 검진과 피검사를 받았다. 특히 질병이 의심되는 유증상자에게는 초음파 및 엑스레이 등 정밀 추가 검사를 지원하여 즉각적인 건강 상태 파악과 함께 후속 치료를 연계하는 등 실질적인 의료 혜택을 제공했다.

특별히 이번 일정에는 한국장애인재활협회 본부 출장 모니터링 팀이 직접 현장을 방문했다. 모니터링 팀은 검진을 마친 주민들을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하여, 본 코이카(KOICA) 지원 사업이 주민들의 삶과 건강에 미친 실질적인 성과를 측정하고 현장의 목소리를 청취하는 시간을 가졌다.

사업 관계자는 “이번 검진은 2026년도 1차 정기 검진으로, 하반기에 예정된 2차 검진을 통해 주민들의 건강 상태 변화를 지속적으로 추적 모니터링할 계획”이라며, “앞으로도 소외계층과 장애인이 배제되지 않는 포괄적인 보건 서비스 체계를 구축하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
